Office opens Mondays thru Fridays 9am-5pm except holidays.

NHS has a parking lot located on the side of the building with two reserved spaces for clients with handicap. NHS office is wheel chair accessible. Clients with hearing impairment may call the New York City’s citizen 311 service. 311 is open 24 hours per day, seven days per week (for hearing-impaired clients, call 212-504-4115 via a touchtone device for the deaf TDD). NHS has bilingual and multilingual counselors to assist clients with language barriers. NHS also has a contract with a translation agency to provide translation services to clients speaking languages we do not have on staff.

"When I took office as Attorney General, New Yorkers were facing a situation unlike anything we have seen before. In 2011, a staggering 345,000 mortgages were either in default or delinquent in the State of New York. The number of people whose homes were underwater

was unprecedented. I also quickly discovered that a substantial portion of  the homeowners who were delinquent or facing foreclosure were forced to do so without speaking to a lawyer or housing counselor at any stage of the process."

This training is for persons, organizations and companies interested in learning about disaster response and proper storm clean-up.

Several organizations are getting together to offer one-on-one help for storm victims. NY1's Natasha Ghoneim filed the following report.

Staten Island resident Denise Squeri says she's feeling beaten down by the paperwork, the red tape and the bureaucracy after Hurricane Sandy dumped seven feet

of water into her Oakwood Beach home and wiped out $80,000 of repairs she made last year following Hurricane Irene.

On Thursday, October 4th, Neighborhood Housing Services of Staten Island (NHS SI) will celebrate 30 years of service to Staten Island with a Dinner Dance & Awards Ceremony at Li Greci’s Staaten.

For the past 30 years NHS SI has been committed to improving neighborhoods through education, counseling and financial services to enhance people’s ability to access affordable housing in Staten Island. NHS of Staten Island’s Vision is to lead Staten Island to the place where families are in homes that are affordable, well-designed, rehabilitated and maintained in a manner that supports their Health & Safety; where housing is not a financial burden and families are financially secure.
